Rhytidectomy (Face Lift)
A rhytidectomy (commonly known as a “facelift”) is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of facial skin in order to produce a more youthful appearance. There are numerous ways to lift sagging mid-facial structures ranging from cheekbone implants to mid-face lifts.
Some patients may decide to combine a traditional facelift with other procedures (including cheek implants and filler injections) in order to entirely erase any signs of aging. Dr. Gonzalez performs various types of face-lifting procedures that can be discussed during your initial consultation.
Procedure
This procedure begins by making a small incision in the temple area, and extending that incision up into the hairline. Following this incision, facial skin can then be separated from deeper facial tissue allowing Dr. Gonzalez to tighten the skin with small sutures.
Once this portion of the procedure has been completed, the skin is then repositioned. Some excess skin may be removed at this point according to Dr. Gonzalez’s expert judgment. Most rhytidectomy procedures are performed by using a local anesthesia or IV sedation. Most patients recover from a rhytidectomy procedure within 10 days.
Benefits
Even though rhytidectomy procedures have been around for many years now, facelift surgery has never been safer, more efficient, or more affordable than it is today. While time can take its toll on the face, wrinkled and sagging skin doesn’t have to be permanent.
Following a facelift procedure, patients often find that youth has been restored in a way that no cream or other solution can compare to. A simple and safe facelift procedure can help eradicate any sun or age damage resulting in a healthier, toned appearance.
